Learn To Curl!

Ready to try curling?

The sport of curling can be enjoyed by people of all shapes, sizes, and abilities. Attend a 2-hour "Learn 2 Curl" session at the Chicago Curling Club, and we'll have you on the ice in no time. Our instructors will teach you about the sport, our club, and guide you through an actual game. Check an item off your bucket list, or take the first step toward your Olympic dreams!

About our Learn2Curl classes

Our curling classes are run by experienced members of the club and are a great introduction to the sport. No prior experience is required. Participants must be at least 18 years of age. After completing the class, you are qualified to become a member of the club and start curling and participating in other club activities.

Our Learn2Curl classes are held on periodic weekend days throughout the curling season, generally beginning in October and running through March. The fee is $85 per person. Each class contains a maximum of 32 people. You may sign up as a single, a couple or up to four players. Larger group outings are offered as part of our Corporate and Group Events program. Should you decide to join the Chicago Curling Club after the class, the $85 fee will be credited towards your first full curling season membership dues.

FAQ

What is the class format?

A typical 2 hour class includes 15 minutes for: an introduction, a short video, warm-up, and the all important safety discussion. The remainder of the time is focused on on-ice instruction and includes and abbreviated two-end curling game. At the end of the class some time will be set aside for socializing and refreshments, known as "broomstacking", and we will outline current membership opportunities.

What do I wear?

Please bring:

  • A pair of sneakers with clean soles (these cannot be your street shoes)
  • Loose clothing (e.g. track or yoga pants)
  • A jacket or sweater that will not shed fibers on the ice
The ice is, well cold, and the air temperature in our ice house is approximately 40° F. You may also want some gloves and maybe a hat or a toque. Layers are recommended.

Who can I contact if I have questions?
